To become a registered Boy Scout or Adult Leader with Troop 27 do the following:
- Review the Troop 27 online overview presentation.
- Read the online handbook to learn more about our troop. Sign and return the affirmation.
- Scouts, complete and return the Boy Scouts of America Youth Application form. This is transmitted to the Capitol Area Council.
- Adult leaders, complete and return the Adult Application form. This is transmitted to the Capitol Area Council and is used for a criminal background checks.
- Complete and return the Troop 27 Scout Information and/or Adult Information form which is used to update our Troop Database Program.
- Complete and return an Annual Health and Medical Record - Part A and B(adults and youth) with registration. Return Part C prior to attending
resident camp, any event that exceeds 72 hours, or strenuous
activities. See the medical form policy for subsequent years. NOTE: Medical Forms updated by BSA in early 2011.
- a) For active scouts transferring from another cub scout pack or troop, pay a $110 registration fee to Troop 27 which includes:
- Troop 27 hat, neckerchief, segments, awards, advancements, and transfer to Troop 27.
- BSA Registration per year: $15 (included)
b) For boys not currently registered with BSA, pay a $125 registration fee to Troop 27 which includes:
- Troop 27 hat, neckerchief, segments, awards, and advancements.
- BSA Registration per year: $15 (included)
c) For current Troop 27 scouts at
recharter time (November) pay an $85 registration fee to Troop 27 which includes:
- Troop 27 segments, awards, and advancements.
- BSA Registration per year: $15 (included)
- Pay a $15 registration fee to Troop 27 for each adult annually.
- Boy’s Life Magazine per year: $12 (separate, additional and optional).
- Please complete a Troop 27 Resource Survey to
share your interests with us. Our troop cannot function without the
participation of our adult leaders. We encourage at least one parent or
guardian of each Scout participate as a Patrol Advisor or Troop
Committee Member. Patrol Advisors are essential in teaching skills,
attending camp outs, etc. The Troop Committee handles the “business” of
the Troop through planning, fund raising, advancement records,
financial records, etc.
- Complete and return the permission slip for photos on the web site.
- You will need to visit the scout shop to purchase your uniform.
- See the equipment list
for items eventually needed for camping. You do not need to purchase
all these items at once. Camping experience helps the scout decide what
items to purchase.
Note: Any scouts joining mid-year (after Jan- before Nov), full payment is required above and adjustments will be handled during the following November recharter.
