2007 Feb Tomahawk Camporee

Tomahawk Camporee - February 23-25, 2007

Troop 27 will be attending the Tomahawk Camporee 2007 Friday February 23rd - 25th.  We will meet at the Hwy 79 Walmart to hike to the Camporee being held near the Dell Diamond.

The camporee is being held behind the Dell Diamond, Round Rock, TX. Click here for information and maps.

  • Arrive at Walmart no later than 5:30 p.m. on Friday
  • Troop will return to Walmart around 10:00 on Sunday. (This is a time change from the earlier posting.)
Weekend Schedule:
Friday Evening: February 23, 2007
5:00 – 9:00 pm Troops arrive, register, assign campsites and get set up.
9:00 – 9:45 pm SPL meeting, briefing, coordination for Saturday events.
5:00 – 9:00 pm Troops arrive, register, assign campsites and get set up.
10:00 – 10:45 pm Adult Leader meeting, briefing, let them know what the kids are going to do.
10:00 – 10:45 pm

Patrol Leader Council meetings (in troop sites) conducted by SPL’s to pass on information for the next day.

10:45 – 11:15 pm

Adult and SPL Cracker Barrel in staff headquarter’s area. (PL’s should be in charge of the rest of the youth and organizing their patrols).

11:30 pm Taps, lights out, all quiet.
Saturday: February 24, 2007
6:30 - 7:00 am Reveille
7:00 - 8:15 am Prepare, eat, clean up from breakfast.
8:00 – 8:30 am Event staff coordination meeting.
8:30 – 8:45 am District Assembly for Opening Ceremony, roll call of Troops, event kick-off.
9:00 -12:00 noon

Program Time Period - Troops will be out of campsite, Adult Leaders should be with Patrols to provide limited guidance and enjoy the program as well. Adults found in Unit campsites will be noted if making any improvements to the camp. Those additions will not be counted during the campsite inspection. All improvements should be made by the youth during non-program time periods.

12:00 - 1:00 pm Patrols return to Troop sites, prepare, eat, and clean up from lunch.
1:00 - 4:00 pm

Program Time Period – Troop Campsite Inspections – Each Troop needs to provide one Adult to assist with Campsite Inspections - Troops will be out of campsite, Adult Leaders should be with Patrols to provide limited guidance and enjoy the program as well. Adults found in Unit campsites will be noted if making any improvements to the camp. Those additions will not be counted during the campsite inspection. 4:00 - 5:00 pm Cleanup, regroup, plan participation in campfire skits and songs, rest.
5:00 - 5:15 pm

Unit assembly, retreat/lowering of colors, turn in to staff Unit’s participation ideas for campfire.

5:15 - 7:30 pm

Prepare, eat, clean up from dinner, activities staff tabulates event scores and evaluation for awards, SM time with Troops to evaluate Camporee activity.

8:00 - 10:00 pm

Campfire; selected skits and music from items offered at flag ceremony, presentation of awards, display of Public Service Announcements.

10:15 – 11:00 pm SM/SPL Cracker Barrel and evaluation of Camporee.
11:30 pm Taps, lights out, all quiet.
Sunday: February 25, 2007
6:30 - 7:00 am Reveille.
7:00 - 8:15 am Prepare, eat, clean up from breakfast.
8:15 – 9:00 am Unit Assembly, Flag Ceremony, Scout’s Own Service (a Scout is Reverent).
9:00 – 10:00 am Troops pack, load, sweep area – Leave No Trace.
10:00 – 11:00 am Clear with staff and depart area for home.
